Email-to-Print
Instructions for phones, tablets, laptops and other devices
Systems & LAN Management is pleased to introduce our new Email-to-Print option, which will allow users to print from virtually any device — phones, tablets, laptops — by simply emailing an attached document to the printer. Just send an email attachment from your NMC email account to any of our 70+ Email-to-Print enabled printers anywhere on campus. The attachment must be one of the following formats:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Image (GIF, JPG, PNG)
- Google Drive document (see below for instructions)
A few guidelines for the email-to-print option:
- Printers eligible for this service will say “Email-to-Print enabled” on their orange tag.
- You can only send or forward one attachment per email to one printer. Sending multiple attachments or to multiple printers will not work.
- There may be a short delay (should be no longer than 60 seconds) in printing when you use this print service.
- The email address format for the printers is: <yourselectedprintername>@nmc.edu. You can find the printer name on each Email-to-Print enabled printer or on the student or employee Technology Support Services sites (login required).
- Example: if you wanted to print to the T51-KM printer, you would use T51-KM@nmc.edu in the TO: field.

Google Drive Documents
Three options for using Email-to-Print with Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides) are to choose from within the document:
Computers and Tablets:
- File > Download as > PDF Document (.pdf)
- File > Email as Attachment > Attach as PDF
Phone:
- Menu button on top right > Share & export > Print > Save to Google Drive (as a .pdf).
These options will allow you to make a .pdf from a Google Drive application so you may attach it to an email and send it through the Email-to-Print service.
Self-Service and My Academic Plan (MAP)
To print a page from Self-Service or My Academic Plan (MAP), you will need to either use Ctrl+P to print and the select your .pdf creator (CutePDF, Adobe, etc) or use the options for Save As in the applications.
Post-Print Notices
After sending a document via Email-to-Print, you should see one of the following notices in your email (again, it may take up to 60 seconds to arrive):
- “Thank you. Your print job titled "2012 Hours.pdf" has been printed to the t51-km printer.” OR
- “Your Email to Print job was received, but no valid attachments were found. Valid attachments are PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and images. Please ensure you have attached a valid attachment and try again.”
These materials will be available for reference on the Student and Employee site pages. If you have questions regarding the Email-to-Print option, please contact the NMC Technology Help Desk at (231) 995-3020 or via the web at nmc.edu/help.
