Pamela T. Horne

Pamela T. Horne photoPam Horne was elected in November 2024 fill a two-year term on the Board. A long-time homeowner in Interlochen, Pam moved full-time to Grand Traverse County in 2017 after retiring from a 45-year career in higher education.

After completing her undergraduate degree in communications at the University of Kansas, Pam worked there in student affairs and completed her Master’s Degree in Education in Counseling. After moving to Michigan in 1978, she worked in progressively more responsible positions at Eastern Michigan University, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University. She then served as Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at Purdue University managing operations and strategy for admissions, registrar, financial aid, student success, and student systems. During her career Pam was also very active in professional organizations, including serving as Vice President of the National Orientation Directors Association, President of the Association of Chief Admission Officers of Public Universities, Regional Chair of the College Board, and four years as a trustee of the College Board. She was a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences on such topics as technology and student success, use of predictive analytics and data visualization, the role of parents in college choice and success, and changing demographics. For many years she led a multi-day institute for chief enrollment officers through the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Since her retirement from full-time work, Pam has served as a consultant to over a dozen diverse colleges and universities and as interim Vice President for Enroll at the University of Utah. She is passionate about the power of higher education to transform individual lives, families, and communities.

In Grand Traverse County, Pam is an active volunteer with Interlochen Center for the Arts, serving on the IPR Community Advisory Board and the Engagement Centennial Committee. She is also active with Impact100, the League of Women Voters, and has served on the Newcomers Club Board for seven years, including two presidential terms. You’ll also find her ushering at Interlochen and in the box office at the State Theater. Pam is a member of the International Affairs Forum and the Dennos Museum and has taken several NMC Extended Education courses.
