Aircraft Utilization
The primary function of College-owned and -leased aircraft and simulators is for the purpose of flight training for Northwestern Michigan College aviation students. The aircraft shall be operated and maintained in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration Rules and Regulations. The management team will increase flight fees according to industry norms and to meet the requirements of the operating budget. NMC will also utilize the aircraft to provide transportation for NMC staff and contract clients. The aircraft will be used for official College business and for business purposes of its contract clients. NMC aircraft may be rented to current aviation faculty/staff when the equipment is not required for student instruction.
NMC aircraft may also be utilized in collaboration with other NMC programs as a joint benefit to accomplish student education or research.
The Vice President for Educational Services, in conjunction with the appropriate faculty and staff, is responsible for the development and publication of any procedures or guidelines that may be necessary to administer this policy effectively.
If any provision(s) of this policy or set of bylaws conflicts with laws applicable to Northwestern Michigan College, including the Community College Act of 1966, the Freedom of Information Act, or the Open Meetings Act, as each may be amended from time to time, such laws shall control and supersede such provision(s).
