Tobacco Free NMC
In the interest of providing a safe, healthy and clean environment for students, employees and visitors, and in accordance with the Michigan Smoke Free Air Act, P.A. 188 of 2009, effective May 1 of 2010, and Traverse City Ordinance Amendment No. 744 of 2007, use or sale of tobacco products is prohibited on all NMC properties. No person shall use, chew, smoke or sell tobacco products or smoking simulation products or devices at any time or in any place on NMC properties, including sidewalks within the boundaries of any campus.
The Vice President of Finance and Administration, in conjunction with the appropriate faculty and staff, will be responsible for the development and publication of any procedures or guidelines that may be necessary to administer this policy effectively.
If any provision(s) of this policy or set of bylaws conflicts with laws applicable to Northwestern Michigan College, including the Community College Act of 1966, the Freedom of Information Act, or the Open Meetings Act, as each may be amended from time to time, such laws shall control and supersede such provision(s).
