Law Enforcement Program

This program offers graduates both an Associate in Applied Science degree and all the training necessary to take the state law enforcement officer examination upon graduation. Should the Law Enforcement student decide to transfer to a four-year college or university, some of the courses might be acceptable for transfer credit. Students who anticipate this option should see a counselor during their first semester at NMC.

The Law Enforcement Preservice Police Academy is approved by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Completion of the Law Enforcement Program within two years and with a minimum 2.0 GPA satisfies prerequisites for certification and qualifies the student to take the state examination and be hired by a law enforcement agency within one year. Being hired by a law enforcement agency activates the certification.
