I usually take assignments here, or Houston, Tx where my older son has his family as well as working in Denver or Nashville where my daughter and several friends live and where I maintain a nursing position. I love reading and gardening, but I really love riding my motorcycle around the country. I would love to make it back to TC one day to enjoy the beauty there and visit with old friends. I would enjoy hearing from anyone from my days there.

Snay, Sherry (1961-1963) — Laguna Woods, CA
The best two years of my life were spent at NMC. I was originally from Grosse Pointe, Michigan and decided I wanted a small college. It was truly amazing the great things we found to do on a regular basis. My social times were spent with Marilyn and Jan Morhardt, Bob Warner, Jim Hay, Terry Sanborn, Tom Keith and many more. I went on to get married, lived at Michigan State and move out to California with my ex-husband. We then returned to Michigan and lived in the Grosse Pointe, Farmington Hills areas. After divorcing, I started my own Company and came up to TC often on business and for pleasure. Many wonderful memories. I am back living in Orange County, California, where the sun always shines.
Please send me a note,
Sherry Snay (Chivas)

After NMC? Western Mich (B. A., 1963); U-Mich (M. A., 1966); Teachers College, Columbia U. (Ed. D., 1968, and, yes, I was in that spring's "student riots"). 1964-65: English Teacher. 1968-72: Director, Research, Evaluation & Assessment, etc. (in 1968 I invented a state-wide schools assessment program [but it quickly was re-made into the MEAP by the Lansing lobbying corps]), Mich Dept of Ed; first director, Goodman Free School, East Lansing; editor, Outside the Net (an "underground" education mag); and writer / cartoonist for Ann Arbor Sun, Atlanta Great Speckled Bird, and other "undergrounds." Worked in food-co-ops in Lansing, Ann Arbor, Atlanta, and Traverse City (Oryana, in summer, 1972). Marched for civil rights in Mississippi; against Viet Nam war in New York City, Washington, Chicago, etc. 1959-77: hitch-hiked in 50 states; all Canada provinces; and, 1963, Mexico (to Acapulco and Vera Cruz); 1973, Africa (Madrid to Dakar); and, 1975, Mid-East! and Arabia (Luxembourg to Mecca). 1978-96: Lansing-area politico (16 years as Ingham County Commissioner [1996 board chair]; 12 years as part-time Lansing mayoral flunky; manager or consultant to local campaigns). Last "moderate Republican" in Mid-Michigan (and, now, a cranky and "independent" voter). Currently: artist (Saper Galleries, East Lansing); genealogist and internet junkie; spouse of Kathy Wilbur (she currently is a Central Mich U Vice Pres); father of five; and grandfather of two. Best NMC memory? Getting booted out in winter, 1958 (for spending a night in the "girls dorm") and becoming a Holiday Hills ski bum (but I returned to NMC and graduated on schedule). Coincidentally, NMC was started in the airport hanger that was across the street from the house I grew up in (at 3915 South Garfield, on the southern edge of the city's elite nighborhood, Traverse Heights). And I took Ralf Parton's (anybody remember him?) NMC art classes while I still was at TCHS. !
Oh really? Ask Al Shumsky. I can be found on MapQuest and living in Okemos. Please stop by . . .
