An early childhood education teacher works with young students

Early Childhood Education Degrees and Certificates

NMC’s Early Education programs are designed to prepare students who seek a career in childcare administration, lead teaching and caregiving in a childcare or preschool setting, working as a paraprofessional/teacher’s aide in a school system or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.

NMC offers three comprehensive pathways for careers in early care and education. The two foundation level credentials include an Early Childhood Education and Care Certificate of Achievement or an Early Education Cohort program that meets the National CDA (Child Development Associate) credentialing requirements. The third and highest degree offered at NMC is an Early Childhood Education Associate of Applied Arts.

For those currently working in the field of early education, NMC works in partnership with the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Michigan scholarship program to provide funding and support to eligible students. More information can be found here.

If you are seeking elementary education certification, please consult the Elementary Education transfer guide for the transfer school of choice or see an advisor.
